George Lewis Walker, age 75, of Nixa, recently living in Aurora, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2013. He was born December 25, 1937, in Ponce de Leon, the son of Theodore Walker and Mary Elidena Cooper Walker. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. On November 9, 1963, he and Shirley Ann Vest were united in marriage. Together they had two children, James and Jerry. Shirley preceded him in death in 2005. On February 9, 2008 he and Christenia Stephens were united in marriage. George retired in 2000 from General Electric after 25 years as a machinist. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. George was a member of the Southern Baptist faith. Survivors include: His wife, Christenia, Aurora; his son, James Russell Walker, Nixa; three grandchildren, Brittany Thompson, Kevin Walker and Troy Amburgey; a great-grandson, Shaun Sanders; four step-daughters and their families; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley, a son, Jerry Lewis Walker in 1984, a brother, J.C. Walker, and a sister, Opal Jett. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, April 4, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Randy Gilmore officiating. Burial will follow in Selmore Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 "� 8:00 PM Wednesday in the funeral home.
