Jiri “George” Polivka, age 78, passed away suddenly on December 29, 2021.
George was born on April 8, 1943 in Prague, Czechoslovakia to the late Josef and Libuse (Bonova) Polivka.
George was a scientist. He earned his PhD at Czech Technical University of Prague in the Czech Republic. On August 8, 1970, George was united in marriage to Helena Glaserova and they had two children.
He was very well known in the scientific community where he specialized in telecommunication technology. He cooperated and taught in Japan, Syria, and Mexico. During the course of his career, he filed several patents and led advancements in his field of specialization. He was well traveled and visited many countries for business and pleasure. In 1993, George moved with his wife to the United States to join Spacek Labs of California as a chief scientist until his retirement. In 2013 George and Helena moved to Springfield to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Helena Polivkova, son, George Polivka and wife Beth, along with daughter Helena and husband Perry Holden, three grandchildren John, Mark, and Mariah.
