George W. Jones

George W. Jones, age 85, of Garrison, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017. He was born December 1, 1931, in Garrison, the son of Cecil and Merle (Gibson) Jones. He continued to live throughout his life in Garrison, and served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951 - 1955. George was self-employed throughout his working career. On March 14, 1953 he and Shirley Geraldine Jones were married. George loved his family above all, and looked forward to visiting with friends and family who would stop by the home. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved his garden. George was saved at an early age and has always been a member of Garrison Baptist Church. Survivors include: His wife of 64 years, Shirley; three children and their spouses, Teresa Phelps and Keith of Marshfield, Rick Jones and Teresa of Garrison , and Kelly Jones and Jeanine of Garrison; six grandchildren, Fallon and Sam Gorham, Kelby Phelps, LeAnna and Josh Gilbert, Candra and Jeremy Gilbert, Courtney and Clint Johnson, and Brittney and Gratt Dalton; eleven great-grandchildren, Jayden, Landry, Lauren, Paden, Paris, Paisley, Gentry, Colin, Calie, Grayce, and Brayle; two brothers, Gordon Jones of Garrison, and Jerry Jones of Schaumburg, IL; other relatives and many friends. His parents and an infant sister preceded him in death. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, June 24, at Garrison Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Garrison Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
