Albert Eugene "Gene" Springer, age 78, of Nixa, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015. He was born August 3, 1937, the son of James Albert and Alice Louise (Collins) Springer. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Gene worked for utility companies as his career, PG&E in San Francisco, and later Piedmont Gas and Electric in North Carolina.
Gene was a man after God's own heart. He loved God's word, and studied the bible daily. He served as Christian youth minister in North Carolina. Gene attended the University of San Francisco for many years, working to obtain a PhD in psychology, among other interests. Although his love to learn always kept him busy, Gene found time for recreational shooting.
Survivors include: A brother, James Mitchell Springer and wife Marilyn of Orangevale, California; a nephew Matthew Richard McLaughlin and wife Eileen of Sparta; a great-niece, Jamie Martin; a great-nephew, Trenton Plank; four great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and a special caregiver, Melissa Tate and husband Jeremy.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy McLaughlin and husband Richard, a niece, Dottie Plank, and his parents.
A graveside funeral will be 3:00 PM Monday, August 24, in Highlandville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
