Gayla June (Maggard) Starnes, age 47 of Ozark, passed away October 9, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 6, 1969 in Springfield, the daughter of Lloyd and Delphine Maggard.
Gayla attended Ozark High School and graduated in the Class of 1987. She worked for the Ozark R-6 School District for the last ten years. She enjoyed reading, playing her guitar, singing and reading. She enjoyed trips through the country on Sundays. She enjoyed visiting family and friends. Going to work and seeing her co-workers and all of her school kids was often the highlight of her day.
Gayla loved her Lord, going to church and reading her Bible. She loved her family and friends more than anything.
Gayla was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law, Dovie Starnes; her grandparents; aunts; uncles; and cousins.
Gayla is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Joseph; her children, Arah June Starnes and Joseph William Starnes of Ozark; sisters-in-law, Shirley Barnett and husband Wendol of Ozark, Beverly Talty and husband Tom of Billings; Melissa Starnes and husband Johnnie of Ozark; many nieces; nephews; friends; and two special great nephews, Jeremiah Barnett and Colton Powell.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2016 in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Lee Hampton and Gary Jennings officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery, Ozark.
