Gary Allen Rainey

Gary Allen Rainey, age 76, of Ozark, passed away in his home Tuesday, May 16, 2017. He was born July 1, 1940, the son of Ward and Dalcie (Rhea) Rainey. Gary was a 1958 graduate of Ozark High School. He attended Missouri State University, and was a member of the Marine Corps Reserve. On October 22, 1959 he and Patricia Landes were married. Gary managed Rainey Oil Company and Christian County Gas until retirement in 2006. He served on the board of directors for the Missouri Propane Association. Gary was a member of St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church. Gary served on the board of directors for Christian County National Bank. Always active in his community, Gary was instrumental in organizing Christian County Baseball for Boys, and Christian County Girls Softball organizations. A sporting clay enthusiast, he was a member of the NSCA and MO State Sporting Clay Association. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, competitive shooting, and was a member of NRA. He also enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races with family and friends. Survivors include: His wife, Pat; two children, John Rainey of Ozark, and Karen Massey and husband Dwight of Linn; a grandson, Logan Rainey and wife Kristen of Kimberling City; four great-grandchildren, Evan, Devan, Gavan, and Alex; a brother Dennis Rainey and wife Barbara of Little Rock, AR; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter-in-law, Liz Rainey A funeral mass will be 10:00 AM Saturday, May 20, in St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church, Ozark. Burial will follow in Weaver Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 6:00 PM Friday in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Memorial donations may be made to: Washington University Siteman Cancer Center, CB 1204, 7425 Forsyth Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63105.
