Gary Palmer, a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family at the age of 71 in Nixa, Missouri. He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1952, the son of Archie Eugene "Knute" of Spring Valley, Arkansas and Mary Rose "Moe" (Jones) Palmer of Grove, Oklahoma.

Gary dedicated his early career to salesmanship, working diligently with Stone Container Corporation and Arrow Box. His work ethic, commitment, and charisma were evident in all aspects of his life. Athletics held a special place in Gary's heart. He was an alumnus of Parkview High School and Southwest Missouri State University. Gary's leadership and athletic achievements were remarkable, having served as the Parkview High School Class President of 1970 and excelling as the Varsity Basketball Team Captain, earning the title of 1970 Basketball All State Selection.

Beyond his professional and academic pursuits, Gary found joy in various hobbies and interests. Music held a special place in his heart, with favorites including Jethro Tull, Dan Fogelberg, and Bonnie Raitt. Gary also had a passion for action movies, gardening, and sports - whether playing, watching, or coaching. His love for food was apparent through his enjoyment of dishes like cashew chicken, Mexican Villa, and indulging in ice cream and pie!

In the hearts of those who knew him best, Gary will forever be remembered for his kind spirit and unwavering dedication to his family. He was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation and Sevens family lineage. He leaves behind many cherished memories that will be held dearly by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Gary is survived by his children, Kristen Palmer, Jared Palmer (and wife Rachael Palmer), Jennifer Palmer; stepchildren Tom Neal (and wife Heather Neal), Kindra Neal; grandchildren Brandon Redding, Paris Palmer Rogers, Maddox Palmer, Nash Palmer, Darian Dark, Ryman Neal; great-grandchild Arya Humphrey Rogers; siblings Pamela (and husband Russ Whorton), Marilyn Brent, Scott (and wife Kelli Palmer); nieces and nephews Kaleb Whorton, Marin Whorton, Madison (and husband Tom Sublett), Tiffany (and husband Jarrad Eggleston), Jessica (and husband Dan Knatcal), Macy (and husband Dylan Ward), Ashton (and wife Allie Palmer); along with numerous great nieces and great nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Palmer on May 1, 2022; and his parents. 

Although Gary has left this world behind, he will remain forever present in the hearts of those who loved him deeply. His memory will continue to inspire all those who were touched by his kindness and strength. Gary was loved by many more close family and friends whose lives he brightened with his presence.

Cremation rites will be accorded by Adams Crematory and arrangements are under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
