Gail Duane McCool, age 84, of Sparta, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017. He was born March 22, 1932 in Camargo, Oklahoma, the son of Laurence Earl and Anna (Thomsen) McCool. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 until 1954. In 1957 he and Carol Jean Lindholm were married.
Gail was employed by AT&T throughout his working career, retiring in 1990. He and Carol lived in Wisconsin and Illinois before moving to Missouri in 1990. Gail was a private pilot and owned and operated a hanger and airstrip. He enjoyed cattle and horses on his ranch. Gail and Carol traveled throughout the United States, Europe, and Hawaii, often visiting family.
He was a faithful Lutheran wherever they lived, and was currently a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Nixa.
Survivors include: His wife, Carol; two daughters, Kathy Beaty and husband Thomas of Rogersville, and Lori Golden and husband Scott of DeKalb, Illinois; and two grandchildren, Alissa Bird and husband Wes, and Jeffrey Beaty.
Gail was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Earl McCool.
A graveside funeral with military honors will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 15, in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. A service will follow at 11:00 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Nixa, with Pastor Adam Parvey officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 -7:00 PM Tuesday in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
