Fredia Mae Hartley, age 82 of Ozark, passed away January 8, 2014. She was born October 7, 1931 in Ozark, the daughter of Chester Harold and Opha Mae (Baird) Wolfe.
Fredia was saved at an early age and was a member of Galloway Methodist Church.
On March 31, 1949, Fredia was united in marriage to Bill Hartley. They continued attending Galloway Methodist Church, where she enjoyed playing piano. In 1997, they began attending James River Church, where Fredia continued to call her church home.
After starting their family, Fredia worked as secretary for Ozark Schools Board of Education and was Superintendent Clyde McConnell's secretary for many years.
Later, Fredia opened Ozark Ready-to-Wear on the square. She also purchased Merle Norman cosmetics studios and opened Corner One in 1986.
Fredia helped establish the Cosmopolitan Club of Ozark, Sixth District M.F.W.C./G.F.W.C., serving as the first president in 1957-58.
Fredia and Bill enjoyed their days fishing on Truman Lake with Pam and Gene. She also loved to play dominoes. One of her greatest loves was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include: her husband Bill, Ozark; her children, Pam McGowan and husband Gene, Mtn. Grove, Tom Hartley and wife Debi, Branson; her grandsons, Jeff Jackson, Tyler Hartley and wife Lindsey, Chestnutridge and Tanner Hartley and wife Chantel, Ozark; great grandchildren, Aspen Hartley, Willow Hartley, Coleman Hartley and Hadley Grace Hartley; her dear friends, Peggy and Gene Jarecke; close family members, Linda Alexander, Manny and Darlene De Los Santos and Randy Wolfe.
Fredia was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday in Clark Chapel, at James River Church, Ozark. Burial will follow in Selmore Cemetery, Ozark. No formal visitation will be held. Friends are welcome to visit from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. on Saturday at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
