Francis "Jean" Pittman Hicks went to be with the Lord on January 31, 2015. She was born June 2, 1923 to Gertrude Lee (Turner) and Frank Pittman on a farm in Brunswick, Missouri.
Jean graduated from Brunswick High School. Jean worked as secretary for W.J.Small Alfalfa Company, transferring to Liberty, Missouri in 1943, where she met and married Carl Cecil Hicks on May 19, 1945. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. They were hard working people growing fruits and vegetables, enough to share with neighbors. Jean canned and froze enough to feed the family throughout the year. She grew lovely roses and peonies. She was a leader for Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Church Circle and neighborhood activities. Jean liked to play board games, playing with the grandchildren and then in later years, with her friends. She especially enjoyed and was proud of the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, two sisters Miriam Logan & Myrl Summers and son-in-law John Kaye Lonborg. Jean is survived by one sister, Ruth Whiteside, Phoenix, Arizona, son Carl Leon Hicks, Ozark, Missouri, and daughter Elaine Lonborg, Dallas, Texas, grandchildren Sherry Jo Shank and husband Greg of Nixa, Missouri, Joanna Goeden and husband Ryan of Nixa, Missouri, John Kristopher Lonborg and wife Kathy of Dallas, Texas, Kari Elaine Haywood and husband Steve of Dallas, Texas and Karla Kay Boles and husband Denny of Austin, Texas, nine great grandchildren: Nick, Jena, Britney, Mattie, Mason L., Lily, Mason S., Jack and Camden and one great great grandchild, Kaleb.
Services will be at Adams Funeral Home,504 W. Walnut, Ozark, Missouri on Saturday, February 7 at 2:00 pm, with Ryan Goeden officiating. A graveside service will be in Liberty, Missouri at Glenridge Cemetery, Sunday, February 8 at 3:00 pm, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Jack DeWees officiating.
