Frances Spivey

Frances Spivey, age 99, of Nixa passed away Monday, December 12, 2016. She was born September 22, 1917 in Turner County, GA to Arri and Gertrude (Hearnes) Stanford. She was the youngest of ten children, and was raised in Rebecca, GA. Frances met Olin Spivey while in school. Olin also attended the same church. Frances and Olin were married the day before Valentine's Day in 1939 by a Justice of the Peace. Frances and Olin had been married 68 years as of Olin's passing in 2008. Frances and Olin moved to several states over the course of their lives due to Olin's work. While living in California, Frances was very active in the Eastern Star. Olin retired in 1976 and they settled in Nixa. Frances was grounded in her faith and attended Calvary Bible Church, Nixa. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker. Frances enjoyed shopping with friends and family and dining out. She also liked various kinds of jewelry. Frances is survived by her children Vaughn Spivey, his wife Donna of Nixa, Joe Spivey, his wife Debbie of Ozark, Elaine Hicks, her husband Roy of Nixa, and John Spivey, his wife Judy Mojave Valley, AZ; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Frances is preceded in death by her husband; and 9 brothers and sisters. A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 14, 2016 in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM at Delaware Cemetery, Nixa, following the visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
