Frances Ewing, age 99, of Oldfield, went to be with the Lord Monday, June 6, 2022. She passed away in her home, where she and her husband had a dairy farm for many years. She was born October 12, 1922 in Shenandoah, Iowa, the daughter of David Frank and Elsie Dell (Hall) Grimmet. When Frances was five, the family moved to Southwest Missouri. She graduated from Chadwick High School. On November 25, 1940, she and James Albert “Jim” Ewing were united in marriage.
Frances was a member of Mound Baptist Church where she sang with the Mound Quartet. She loved her family, and they all enjoyed getting together for the wonderful meals she provided. In her pastime Frances enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles.
Survivors include: her sons and their wives, Gary and Loretta Ewing, Larry and Sharon Ewing, Scott and Jackie Ewing, and Greg Ewing; her daughters, Ann Mathews and husband Jim, and Nadia Hull; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Her husband, Jim, preceded Frances in death in 2008. Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Mildred Grimmet, and Helen Ewing and husband Oliver, a son-in-law J.E. Hull, sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, and her parents.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, June 10, at Mound Baptist Church, Oldfield, with Pastor Bill Dowell officiating. Burial will follow in Hall Cemetery at Mound. Memorial contributions may be made to Hall Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
