Florence Rita Nelson, age 90, of Nixa, passed away in Springfield, Missouri on February 12, 2013. She was born to Joseph and Constance (Diviaco) Andrea on March 1, 1922, in Chicago, Illinois. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Nelson, September 28, 1948. Florence worked as a clerk in several grocery stores in the Chicago area. She was known for her outgoing personality and always made people laugh. She loved to sing, play bingo, cards, and work word puzzles. Florence was a very social person. She was a member of the Levy Senior Center, in Levy, Illinois, where she was very active. She was also a member of the Nixa Senior Center, where she was very active as well. Florence was very loving and her friends were very important to her. She loved her family dearly. Her family said she had her sense of humor even up to the time of her passing. Florence is survived by he son Ray Nelson, and wife Carol, of Phoenix, AZ, Sandra Lange, and husband Gary, of Nixa, MO, Ken Nelson, and Michelle, of Mt. Vernon, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Brothers Frank, Louie, and Charles, and two sisters, Rose Caruso, and Mae Fitzgibbon. Funeral services will be held in Addison, IL.
