Evalee Maciel Yarbrough, age 90, of Nixa, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016. She was born April 21, 1926 in Fair Grove, the daughter of Elbert and Hazel (Haun) Wommack. She was united in marriage at the age of 20 to Carl Yarbrough in his grandmother's home in Strafford, October 20, 1946. Carl preceded her in death in 1992, celebrating 46 years of marriage.
Evalee was raised on a farm in Fair Grove. She was saved in the 1930's and was baptized in Cedar Bluff Creek. Evalee had a calm, sweet, but strong countenance. She always thought of others first and was a hard worker. She never worried or complained but spoke her mind and could be a bit ornery at times. She was a wonderful cook. She had a weakness for cheeseburgers, shakes and foot-long chilidogs. Evalee was a long time member of Bass Chapel Baptist Church, of Fair Grove and after moving to Nixa she was a member of North Nixa Baptist Church and was very active. She was a cashier for Union 76 Truck Stop for 12 years and was one of the first employees when it opened in 1971. Evalee worked as a bank teller for a short time in Strafford and Fair Grove before retiring.
Survivors include: Two daughters, Diane Dugan and husband Mike of Nixa, and Karen Bolen and husband Larry of Nixa; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister Frances Sims, of Littleton, CO; a sisters-in-law Mary Lou Wommack, of Nixa and Dorothy Boles, of Springfield; and a brother-in-law Lewis Yarbrough, of Strafford.
Evalee is preceded in death by her husband, Carl; two brothers Curtis Wommack and Clovis (Toby) Wommack; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 Pm to 7:00 PM Friday, October 28, 2016 in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 29, 2016 in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Bass Chapel Cemetery, Strafford.
