Eunice Aldean Thompson, 95, of Ozark, passed away peacefully
November 21, 2013, at North Park Assisted Living in Ozark. Eunice was born September 5, 1918, in Barry County, Missouri, the eighth of nine children, to Harry and Martha (Shrum) Pritchett, all of whom preceded her in death. She graduated from Seligman High School in 1936, and was a standout member of the girls' basketball team. She lived most of her life in Barry or Christian County, Missouri. On October 7, 1937, Eunice was united in marriage to Ted M. Thompson, who also preceded her in death in 1994. For many years they owned and operated a general store and gas station at Spokane, Highlandville and Selmore. Eunice then worked at Hagale Garment factory, before retiring from Lily Tulip, after 24 � years, in 1983. Eunice was a member of Selmore Christian Church for 66 years, where she served as an Elder, Sunday School teacher, and was an active member of the CWF and quilting groups until her stroke. She was also a member of the Ladies Literary Club - GWFC and served the club in several capacities. Eunice volunteered with many other community organizations, as well. She enjoyed plays, music shows, bingo, Tai Chi and exercise, crocheting, traveling, cooking, watching sports and most of all, her family and friends.
Eunice is survived by her two daughters, Nancy and Marvin Parson, Rogersville; and Tedra and Gary McCall, Tulsa, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Brian (LuAnn) Parson, Scott (Patrice) Parson, April (Sam) Whitney, Marna (Shane) Strahl, Wendy (Andy) Gray, Jonas (Heather) McCall, Liza (Doug) DeJarnette, and Jordan McCall; seventeen great grandchildren, with another on the way; one great-great grandson; and three nephews and seven nieces.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of North Park Assisted Living and HPC Hospice for their love and attention to Eunice.
In lieu of flowers and in keeping with Eunice's wishes, make a promise to visit someone in a care facility or a shut in, soon and often. Memorial donations may be made to Selmore Christian Church, Selmore Cemetery or Hospice and Palliative Care of Springfield.
Services will be held Tuesday, November 26 at 11 a.m. in Selmore Christian Church, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with visitation Monday from 5 - 7 p.m. in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial will be in Selmore Cemetery.
