Eula Irene Shortt

Eula Irene Shortt, age 91, of Sparta, passed away Friday, March 25, 2011. She was born November 2, 1919 at Ongo, one of nine children of Cleveland and Stella (Nelson) Maggard. Eula was a graduate of Ava High School. She was united in marriage to Arlie Olath Shortt. Mrs. Shortt was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church at Highlonesome. She had been employed by Hagale Garment Factory for 14 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie, in 1978, two children, Judith Shortt Graham in 1996, and Larry Dwane Shortt in 2009, two sisters, Goldie Philbeck and Bernice Reaves, two brothers, Kenneth Maggard and Hosea Maggard, and her parents. Survivors include: five grandchildren, Curtis Shortt, Phillip Hamilton, Bob Case, Dennis Case, and Louise Stevens; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edith Maggard, and Janet Cokley; two brothers, Melvin Maggard and Edwin Maggard; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, March 27, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Lee Maggard officiating. Burial will follow in Sparta Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM Saturday, March 26 for viewing.
