Eugene VanHorn, age 91, of Ozark, passed away in his home Tuesday, December 24, 2019. He was born January 4, 1928 in Green Forest, Arkansas, the son of George Washington and Lillian Mae VanHorn. At an early age the family moved to the Highlandville area. Gene served his country in the U.S. Army.
He worked as a logger in Colorado, and eventually owned his own shop, Gene's Auto Repair. At his home later in life, Gene was led to the Lord.
Survivors include: His wife of 53 years, Frances Crick VanHorn; nine step-children, Dwayne Grider, Delilah Shipman, Gertie Harvill, Don Grider, Roger Grider, Julie Crawford, Joella Eakins, Debbie Brewer and Cleota Grider; many great and great-great grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Esther, Kenneth, Patsy, Gerald, and Gladys.
Gene was preceded in death by a step-son, Dennis Grider and his parents.
Visitation will be at 1:00 PM Friday, December 27, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Pastor George Bishop will officiate. Burial will follow in Highlandville Cemetery.
