Ernest H. Woody, age 93, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015. He was born January 19, 1922, in Dolph, Arkansas, the son of Henry Gilbert Woody and Elizabeth Caroline (Gentry) Woody. He was united in marriage to Valda Moser on September 6, 1947. She preceded him in death on April 4, 2014 after 66 years of marriage.
Mr. Woody served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He served in North Africa as an aircraft mechanic. Ernest retired from Armco Steel in Kansas City in 1984. After retiring, Ernest and Valda moved to Nixa where they lived until their passing.
Survivors include: sons, Gary and wife Angela of Kansas City, MO, Allen and wife Connie of Springfield, and Darin and wife Cara Lynn of Grain Valley, MO; three grandchildren, Susan Hansche and husband Mark of Sparta, Andrea Woody of Chicago, and Kara Woody of Springfield; two great-grandchildren Spencer Mainard of Springfield, and Gabe Thomas Hoyer of Sparta.
In addition to his wife, Ernest was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Lane, Ruby Woody and Norene Burden, and his parents.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday May 16, 2015 at Wild Cherry Cemetery, Wild Cherry, AR.
