Ernest Pitt

On September 2, 2013 Ernest Maynard Pitt, age 73, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He grew up on a farm in Crescent, IA, and attended a one room schoolhouse as a boy. Ernie lived in Iowa until he joined the military. He served in the National Guard, Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran with the Navy. After his military service he worked as an L.P.N. in Springfield making lifelong friendships along the way with his humor, kindness and wisdom. He was a loving and compassionate father and never hesitated to tell his children how proud he was of them and how much they were loved. Ernie leaves behind daughters Starla M Fredrick�son and husband Don of Glenwood, IA; Stacy A Gray and husband Mike of Chestnut ridge, MO; a son Eric L Pitt of St. Louis, MO; sister Mary God�sey and husband Steve of Golden, MO; grandchil�dren; Josey, Melissa and Sarah Fredrickson; John, Mark, Sarah and Luke Gray; Rose Drake and children Jill and Audrey who Ernie and Sonya thought of as family; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ernie was a devoted husband for 46 years to Sonya M. Kjeldgaard Pitt who preceded him in death in 2010. Ernie and Sonya will be laid to rest together at Hazelwood cemetery on Friday, 6, September 2013.
