Eric Paul Johnston

Eric Paul Johnston, 50, of Nixa Missouri, passed away on November 24, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on May 2, 1974, in Pontiac, Michigan, to Fred and Sandy (Martin) Johnston. Eric grew up with a passion for sports and a deep love for family and friends.

Eric graduated from Gulf High School in New Port Richey, Florida, in 1992, where he was a member of the baseball team. He continued his education and athletic career at Lenoir-Rhyne University, graduating in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. During his college years, he was an active member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. At LR, he formed bonds with his fraternity brothers, who have remained friends throughout his life.

On October 3, 1998, Eric married his college sweetheart, with whom he shared 26 years of love, laughter and partnership. Together they navigated the valleys and peaks of life and raised three wonderful sons. Eric’s devotion to his family was clear to anyone who knew him. He rarely missed an event for his boys, whether he was coaching in their early years or cheering them on from the sidelines.

Eric had a strong faith in God that was nurtured by his parents from the beginning. He attended North Point Church, Nixa, Missouri.

Eric’s kindness, loyalty and dedication were evident in every aspect of his life. He was the friend who would always step up and be ready to lend a hand or offer support. He genuinely enjoyed helping others and was the person that everyone knew they could rely on at any time. His friendships were wide-ranging, from his baseball families and golfing guys, to the couples with whom he and Marie raised their families.

Professionally, Eric was a respected and hardworking project manager for various companies over the years. In the last six years, he had found his true calling as an insurance agent for Mid-America Specialty Markets. His natural love of helping others allowed him to quickly excel in the field. He was a member of Rotary Club and local business organizations.

Spending time on the golf course was always something that Eric enjoyed. It was a sport that kept him connected to many dear friends through the years and eventually his family.

Eric will be deeply missed, but his spirit and lessons will remain forever in the lives that he touched. His was a life well-lived, marked by the love, friendship and kindness that he shared so freely.

Eric is survived by: his loving wife, Marie Mayse Johnston; his father, Fred Johnston; three sons, Evan, Ryan and William Johnston; two brothers Jeff Johnston (Cheryl), Dean Johnston (Fern); two sisters, Sherry Nelson (Duane) and Denise Johnston; brother in law, Nathan Mayse (Sara), sister in law, Elise Shelton; mother in law, Sarah Mayse, many nieces, nephews and amazing friends.

Eric is preceded in death by: his mother, Sandra Johnston; and his father-in-law, Scott Mayse.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa and cremation rites will be accorded by Adams Crematory.

A Celebration of Life will be Monday, December 2, 2024, at North Point Church Nixa, Missouri with Pastor Brad Fox Officiating. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 p.m., with a Service immediately following.
