Elmer Earnest Rowland, age 76, of Sparta, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019. He was born July 7, 1942 in Keota, Oklahoma, the son of Oscar and Eula (Dunkin) Rowland. In 1960 he and Helen Louise Hamilton were married. They lived in Grand Junction, Colorado where they raised their children. Elmer worked in construction throughout his career.
Elmer had a great sense of humor and enjoyed playing practical jokes on family members and friends. He liked to hunt and fish and enjoyed boating and camping. He had a passion for adventure and also enjoyed traveling and his motorcycle. Elmer was a very helpful man and always took care of his family.
Survivors include: His wife, Louise; four children, Sue Butts and husband Joel of Walnut Shade, Brenda Webb and husband Timothy of Sparta, Earnest Rowland of Sparta, and Ann Ruble and husband Randy of Branson, grandchildren, Chelsea Peetom, Kasey Rowland, Jacob and Catherine Ruble, Taylor Butts, Whitney Batchelor, Sheldon and Andrew McCurley; great-grandchildren, Cade Batchelor, Maeyson and Berkley Peetom, Seth, Zander, and Cane Rowland; four brothers, Dazzie Rowland, Larry Rowland, Edward Rowland, and Jimmy Rowland.
Elmer was preceded in death by two sisters, Darlene Eddy and Charlene Adams, a brother, Robert Rowland, and his parents.
A memorial service will be 10:00 AM Monday, January 7, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark
