Elmer Jefferson (E.J.) Parks, age 89 of Ozark, formerly of Springfield and San Antonio, Texas, passed away September 29, 2021. He was born April 3, 1932 in Anadarko, Oklahoma, the son of Otto Lee and Ezma Ree (Sharp) Parks.
E.J. was a member of the Church of Christ since age 12. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from September 1, 1956 until September 30, 1960. He received his degree in accounting at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio in 1970. E.J. was retired form U.S. Service Corp as accounting supervisor after 26 years of service.
Survivors include: his wife, Sandy Parks of Springfield; a son, Dwayne Parks of San Antonio, Texas; two stepdaughters, Paula Thornton of Tyler, Texas and Pam Crisp of Springfield, Missouri; granddaughters, Robin Chenault and husband Colt of Houston, Texas and Erin Gordon and husband Eli of Copperas Cove, Texas; a grandson, Adam Parks and wife Alaina of Mertle Beach, South Carolina; a great grandson, Adam James, Jr. of North Carolina; a sister, Minnie Bell Settle of McPherson, Kansas; a step grandson, Gary Carpenter and wife Bexy of Portland, Texas; step great grandsons, Jaxon and Colt Carpenter; and a step great granddaughter, Brooke Carpenter.
E.J. was preceded in death by his parents; a son Mike Parks; former wife, Sue Stone Parks; three sisters, Morna Ree Parks, Ima Lee Popp and Willie Mae Dubois; and a brother, Clyde Harold Parks.
Burial will be in San Antonio, Texas. Local arrangements are under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
