Eleanor Renkes Hinkson, age 94, of Springfield, passed away in her home after a short illness, May 30, 2013. She was born to Abel and Lena (Arendson) Renkes December 28, 1918, in Maurice, IA. She was united in marriage to Benjamin Hinkson, June 14, 1939. She earned a teaching degree, and began teaching in one room schools. Eleanor dearly loved the Lord and the Bible. She taught many Bible classes. Later in life she had Bible studies in her living room, even when she was not physically able to attend church. Eleanor served the Lord in singing, playing piano and organ. Her family said Eleanor had a perfect balance between Mary and Martha of the Bible. She was a rock of faith. Her son Dan referred to her character from a verse in the Bible, "Blessed are the pure in heart"�. Eleanor was physically fit. She exercised for over 50 years. Eleanor was an excellent cook, mother and grandmother. She was patriotic through and through.
Eleanor is survived by: her daughter, Jeanne McCroskey, and husband Larry, of Nixa, her sons Dan and wife Jackie, of Springdale, AR, and David Hinkson, and wife Vicki, of Piedmont, SC; a brother, Arthur Renkes, of Orlando, FL, a sister Doris Woolard, of Merritt Island FL, 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and a host of friends.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters, Esther Root, Ruth Bush, and Dorothy Hook, a brother Russell Renkes, and a daughter, Patty DeWeerd.
A visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, Saturday, June 1, 2013, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A celebration of life will be held at the funeral home Sunday, June 2, 2013, at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at Patterson Cemetery.
