Johnna “Elaine” Fischer, age 75, of Ozark, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 21, 2022. She was the daughter of Ward Hilton and Jessie (Bradley) Hilton, who cherished Elaine and raised her in a Christian home. She accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of nine and was baptized into the Prospect Baptist Church. She recently moved her membership to First Baptist, Ozark.
She felt blessed to be “Mom” to four boys, Les, Jonathan, David and Bobby. She learned more about the sports they played than she imagined. She was always busy with FFA, Civil Air Patrol, Church Activities, and trips to Florida with the boys on Spring Break and during the summer. Elaine loved to garden, and it was a family affair. She trusted God and felt his presence and His faithfulness always.
Elaine was Valedictorian of the 1964 Ozark High School graduating class. She received a BS in Education from MSU with a major in English and Business Education, and later received a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from Central Missouri State University, Warrenburg. Elaine taught English and Journalism for two years in Houston, Missouri. She then taught English and also was a counselor for grades K through 12 at Bradleyville School. For 12 years she taught in Strafford High School. Her last 12 years in education were at Ozark High School serving as counselor and working with longtime friend Carolyn Mitchum. The highlight of her education career was writing the application for the Ozark Army JROTC in the fall of 1994. Throughout her career Elaine encouraged and touched the lives of countless young people.
After retiring from education, Elaine worked for Silver Dollar City and Herschend Family Entertainment for 20 years. It was there she met Denny Fischer and they married in 2001. They enjoyed life on Table Rock Lake and being active in Life Song Church, Reeds Spring.
