Edwill Underhill, 93, of Highlandville, passed away in his home, Wednesday, September 26, 2012. He was born to Lee and Lucretia (Barkley) Underhill November 20, 1918, in Webster County. He served his country in the United States Coast Guard, during WW II. He was a Radioman First Class. He escorted ships across the Atlantic Ocean. He was united in marriage to Jo Ann Jenkins May 20, 1949. He was a graduate of Missouri State Teachers College, now SMU. He and his wife, Jo Ann, were teachers in a one room school in Fortuna, CA, soon after becoming Superintendent. He retired from education in 1974. Edwill was a business man and a developer. He developed residential and commercial properties all around Christian County. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, in Marshfield, as well as a longtime member of the Kiwanis club, serving as president. He was a longtime member of the Riverdale Baptist Church. Edwill had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, and loved his family. Edwill will be dearly missed. He is survived by his two sons, Scott Underhill and Jennifer Sharkey, and Clark Underhill, both of Highlandville, a sister Georgia Hamilton and husband Carl, of St. Louis, seven grandchildren, Ryan, Jessica, Dawnette, Andre, Michael, and lynsey.; three great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Wyatt, and William Chester. Edwill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jo Ann, brothers Fred, and Ralph, and sisters Gertrude Zimmereman, and Delpha Vinyard. A visitation will be held Friday, September 28, 2012, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Funeral Services will be at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, Saturday, September 29, 2012, at 1:00 P.M. Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
