Edna Lea (Gideon) Melton, age 82, of Highlandville, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012. She was born March 9, 1930, the daughter of Rex and Eva (Rantz) Gideon. On January 24, 1950, she and Richard Andrew Melton were united in marriage. Edna loved her family and her church, Hilltop Full Gospel Church. She had many, many friends and was always willing to lend a hand when needed. She cooked many meals to share and show her love for others. As a sales representative for Yates Promotions, Edna considered her customers as friends. Survivors include: Her husband, Richard; a daughter, Debra Henry and husband Rob, Ozark; three sons, Rick Melton and wife Cindy of Buckner, Roger Melton and wife Sharon of Highlandville, and Scott Melton and Lynnette, of Highlandville; grandchildren, Jason Maples, Justin Maples, Russ Melton, Tonya Claybrook, Tamra Doyal, and Dalton Silvey; great-grandchildren, Dawson and Anna Maples, Reece Maples, Caleb, Chesney and Grady Claybrook, Colby Doyal, Cameron and Emily Melton; a sister, Goldie Carey, Russell, Kansas; sisters-in-law, Verlene Gideon, Greeley Colorado, Jane McCullough, Nixa, and Zoe Moore, Nixa; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Rex and Eva Gideon, brothers, Lewis, Junior, J.W. and Roy Gideon; sisters, Cupie Hursh, Loretta Schwyhart, Ines Smith, Joan Smith, and Peggy Gideon, and a grandson, Robert Melton. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 28, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Rev. Harold Tennison and Rev. Gayle Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in Highlandville Cemetery.
