Confrey "Dude" Elmer White, age 95, of Clever passed away in his home Thursday December 1, 2016. He was born October 29, 1921 in northeast Stone County to Johnny and Lois (Cook) White. He was born near the mouth of where the Finley and the James Rivers joined. He lived his entire life close to where he was born. On March 4, 1944 he and Lois Gilmore were married. To this union a daughter, Connie, was born. He was a longtime member of Jamesville Baptist Church. Dude worked hard all of his life doing what he loved, farming. Dude was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a true outdoorsman. Dude made and sold gigs and gig handles. He really liked his tractor which is a 1950's Allis Chalmers. He had a small collection of model tractors his family had given him over the years. He enjoyed working on tractors and farm machinery. His neighbors would call on him often to help with their machinery and he would never charge them a fee. He simply enjoyed helping people. Dude left an incredible mark on many people's lives and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Lois; daughter and son-in-law Connie and Bob Ellingsworth; grandchildren Brad (Melanie) Ellingsworth and Karla (Donnie) Berziel; great-grandchildren Gunner Ellingsworth, Madison Ellingsworth, Ashley (Steve) Bumgarner, and Crystal (Luke) Arthur, Logan Prust and Nathan Bumgarner; and a host of relatives and friends.
Dude is preceded in death by his parents; step mother Alpha White; a sister Leberta White; brothers Sabastian White, Silas White, and Lycurgus White.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 4, 2016 in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Burial will follow in Union Ridge Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Saturday, December 3, 2016 in the funeral home.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Union Ridge Cemetery.
