John Douglas Fox, affectionately known as Doug, a cherished husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully August 24, 2024. He was born in Springfield, Missouri on January 18, 1960 to Ray and Margaret Fox. Doug was one of four children. His early years were spent in Ponce De Leon, Missouri making for some of his best stories.
Doug was a graduate of Nixa High School, class of 1978, where he was student body president, on the state championship basketball team and played Li’l Abner in the school play. In 1980, he married his high school sweetheart Robin Barnhart. They settled in Ozark, where they raised their two children as Tigers. Doug was a champion of the community leading with a servant’s heart as an Elder at Southside Church of Christ, a school board member, and through taking care of numerous customers who became lifelong friends at Dennis Hanks Chevrolet, as well as his own antique shop, Foxwood Antiques.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Debbie Burks; father in law, Earl Barnhart, stepfather in law, Papa Jack Woods, niece, Reagan Barnhart. His memory will be forever held in the hearts of his surviving family: his wife Robin; daughter Lindsay Wilson (Brent) of Searcy, Arkansas, and son Tyler Fox (Hannah) of Sparta, Missouri; grandchildren Liam and Eleanor; brothers Danny Fox (Mary) of Rogersville, Missouri and Brad Fox (Cathy) of Ozark, Missouri; mother-in-law Dorothy Woods of Ozark, Missouri; brother-in-law Brent (Krista) Barnhart of Hernando, Mississippi; endless nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A note to the residents of the greater Ozark area: Your garage sales, junk drawers and “smalls” are now safe.
