Dortha A. Lee

Dortha Ailean Lee, age 84 of Highlandville, passed away January 10, 2014. She was born April 28, 1929 in Ava, the daughter of John Raymond Vaughn and Dora Dell Matney. Dortha was the eldest of seven children - four sons and three daughters. On May 5, 1948, Dortha was united in marriage to Harry Downing. Harry preceded Dortha in death. Dortha was also preceded in death by a daughter, Della Strycharz. Survivors include: her three sons, Donald Downing of Madras, Oregon, Daniel Downing and wife Chris of Nixa, Darrell Downing and wife Marshall, Highlandville; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Dortha was a longtime resident of Nixa Senior Citizens Housing before calling Ozark Riverview Manor her home. She attended Finley River Cowboy Church of Highlandville. Dortha never met a stranger, and will be missed all who knew and loved her. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, in Highlandville Cemetery, Highlandville, Missouri, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Jim Rantz officiating.
