Dorothy (Dottie) Lorraine Plank entered the loving arms of Jesus on July 13, 2014. Dottie grew up near Highlandville, MO and cherished the serenity and family values that growing up on a farm influenced. This way of life yielded Dottie to have such a sweet spirit and desire to love those around her. On October 8, 1983, Dottie was united in marriage to Terry Verl Plank of Nixa, and resided in Clever since 1985. Dottie loved God and she loved church. She treasured her time at Union Ridge Baptist, Nixa Assembly of God, and then Ridgecrest Baptist since 1992. Their two children grew up with a mother who sacrificed daily to make sure they attended church, learning the values that she represented. She served as a loving example for many to look up to. Over the years, Dottie was a homemaker, enjoying feeding those who walked through her door, and leaving them with a word of encouragement. For several years, Dottie and Terry led and hosted a bible study for youth and college aged students. Dottie loved praise music and could always be caught singing while doing various jobs throughout the home. She also enjoyed writing short stories, inspired by her faith, and influenced by the landscape from where she grew up. One of her favorite verses was "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help? My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth." Psalms 121:1 and 2. The place she grew up offered Ozark Mountains that spilled down to a long valley before meeting the James River. Dottie looked at what God had made and took many life lessons from the peace she found "at home." Dottie deeply loved her grandchildren, often caring for them and sharing bible stories and teaching them praise songs. Cradling them for the first time, she always sang "Jesus Loves Me", committing each of them to the Lord. Although Dottie will be missed greatly, her family knows she is dancing with the angels while they praise our Savior. No greater mother has lived.
Dottie is preceded in death by her grandparents Wiley and Ethel McLaughlin; and her parents Richard and Dorothy McLaughlin.
Dottie is survived by her husband Terry Verl Plank, of Clever; her daughter Jamie, and her husband Jason Manning, of Linn Creek; her son Trenton, and his wife Tara Plank, of Clever; her six grandchildren, Jonathan, Faith, Brayson, and Zane Manning and Claire and Garett Plank; her brother Matt and his wife Eileen McLaughlin, of Sparta; her loving mother-in-law Margaret Plank, of Nixa; and many other wonderful friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Home in Nixa, MO on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at 11:00 AM, with services to follow at 1:00 P.M.
