Dorothy Lee Nichols, age 92, of Nixa, passed away in her home, Friday, April 13, 2018. She was born April 24, 1925 in Poplar Bluff, the daughter of Robert and Myrtle (Fowler) Graham. In August of 1948 she and David Joseph Nichols were married. They celebrated 68 years of marriage before he passed away in 2016.
Dorothy loved her Lord and worked alongside her husband as he served as a part time minister for 55 years. She played the piano and led bible study at churches where they ministered. Dorothy was kind hearted and a devoted homemaker, loving her family, and taking care of other children in her home. She was a member of the Gideons Society.
Survivors include: A son Larry Nichols and wife Vena of Nixa; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeff Williams, and Angela and Mike Wheeler; five great-grandchildren, Lauren and Joshua Williams, Ashleigh Williams, and Myrah and Gracie Wheeler; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Carolyn Nichols-Crook, a sister, Glenda Walters, and brother-in-law J.D. Walters.
A graveside funeral will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 17, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
