Dorothy “Jane” McCullough, 84, of Nixa, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 28th, 2025 in her home with family. Jane brazenly battled dementia the past few years, but was still the sassy and sweet spitfire we all knew and loved. We are comforted by the immense joy and unmistakable smile Jane undoubtedly displayed the moment she met Jesus!
Jane was born on December 5th, 1940 in Highlandville, Missouri, the daughter of Andy and Aggie (DeLisle) Melton. Jane was a graduate of Spokane High School, and lived all of her life in the Highlandville and Nixa area. On May 24th, 1973, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Ken McCullough.
Jane and Ken enjoyed spending time square dancing, attending trail rides, traveling with friends, working in their yard, and spending time with their family and friends, prior to his death in 2001.
Jane retired from Fasco Industries in the early 2000’s. During her nearly 40 years working at Fasco, Jane held many roles from working on the factory floor to working in the office. She made countless lifelong friends and had many memorable times during those 40 years, most notable was meeting her husband Ken. After retiring from Fasco, Jane enjoyed working at Martin’s Floral in Springfield, where she became close friends with the Martin family. Jane always had an eye for home decor and design, and enjoyed creating and working with the floral arrangements in the store. To keep herself busy, Jane often worked two jobs. While working part-time at Martin’s Floral, Jane also worked at People’s Bank, now Southern Bank, in Ozark and several other area branches. Wherever there was a need for a People’s Bank teller, Jane was willing to be there!
Jane was a Christian, and grew up in the church. Jane and her husband Ken attended Riverdale Baptist Church in Highlandville for many years, and were later members of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Springfield. In the last few years, Jane enjoyed attending The Well Church in Nixa on Sunday evenings to hear Pastor Hosea Bilyeu preach. Jane was an immense fan of Pastor Hosea and the Bilyeu family!
Jane’s life gave her a host of friends, but her calling was to her family. Jane was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, aunt, cousin, and special friend, but the role she cherished most was grandmother. To all that knew her, that was no secret, as she would take any opportunity to brag on her grandsons. From reminiscing about Trevor and his sweet orneriness and likeness of Greg, to spoiling the twins like crazy, and cheering on the youngest grandsons at their ball games, she was all their biggest fan!
Jane is survived by two children and their spouses; Shelly and Ryan Worley of Nixa, and Mark Cummings and Jerry Wellborn of Nixa; 2 step-children; Andy McCullough of Crane and family, and Cindy Evans of Springfield and family, 4 grandchildren, Austin Worley, Tristan Worley, Kenton Worley, and Kyan Worley of Nixa, her closest niece Deb Henry, and her faithful shih tzu Charlie, as well as many, many extended family, and friends that became family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Aggie Melton, her husband Ken McCullough, her sister Zoe Moore, her brother Richard Melton, her oldest son, Greg Cummings, her oldest grandson, Trevor Cummings, and her grandchild, baby Worley.
We will celebrate Jane’s life with a visitation at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa from 10:00-11:30 am, Saturday, February 1st, 2025 with the funeral to follow. Burial will be in Highlandville Cemetery, Highlandville.
