Dorothy Faye Adams

Dorothy Faye Adams, age 90 of Buffalo, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018. She was born November 3, 1927 in Sparta, the daughter of Emory and Ortha (Nelson) Shortt. On October 12, 1946 Dorothy was united in marriage to Gordon Adams. Dorothy attended college, receiving her teaching certificate and starting her career teaching twelve grades at Breaden School. Dorothy and Gordon owned and ran a large dairy farm. She also worked more than 15 years for Mercy as a home aide. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family, sewing, making quilts, and most of all, taking care of her family. Dorothy was known for always having children around and teaching them. Dorothy was a member of Union Mound Baptist Church in Elkhead. Survivors include: children, Beverly Petry and husband Bonnie, Bob Adams and wife Wanda, and Christie Wimberly and husband Dale; grandchildren, Vickie Hoffman-Egly, Matt Applegate, Richard Adams, Amy Logan, Bobbie Rotramel, Lakyn Wimberly and Skylar Wimberly; sisters, Frieda Aday, Marjorie Gardner, and Phyllis Pettit; and brothers, David Shortt, Russell Shortt and Chester Shortt. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and an infant brother, "Little Neal." A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 24, 2018 in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Reverend James Orrick officiating. Burial will follow at Hall Cemetery at Mound. Visitation will be from 10-11 A.M. immediately before the funeral at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. The desire of Dorothy's heart was that she would see all of her family in heaven.
