Doris Louise Stewart, age 96, of Nixa, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017 surrounded by her family, in the home she shared with her daughter. She was born April 28, 1921 in Noel, Missouri, the daughter of Jess Patty and Elizabeth Ann (Pieferly) Patty. On March 13, 1938, Doris and Johnny Ralph Stewart were married in Pitcher, Oklahoma. She was a Christian from an early age.
Doris owned and operated a restaurant at one time. Always a wonderful cook, she loved cooking for friends and her family. She also enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, sewing, gardening and crocheting. Her housekeeping was immaculate and she took pride in cleanliness. Her greatest joy was her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny, in 1996. Also preceding her in death were a son, Jerry Stewart, brothers, Joe Patty and Clyde Patty, two sisters, Agnes Isham and Bede Benefiel, and her parents.
Survivors include: three children, Sue Scott and husband Bill of Nixa, Dick Stewart and wife Barbara of Highlandville, and Donald Stewart of Nixa; a daughter-in-law Lynne Stewart; eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 13, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Burial will follow in Jones-Chastain Cemetery, south of Nixa. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM Tuesday until service time.
