Don Rex Dixon, age 82, of Sparta, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015. He was born October 11, 1933 in Myrtle, Arkansas, the son of Louis Wilson Dixon and Ida Matilda (Marshall) Dixon. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force. On October 11, 1956 he and Joyce Zintz were united in marriage. Joyce preceded Don in death in 1998 after 42 years of marriage.
Don was a long time farmer. Throughout his working career he also worked as a carpenter. In his spare time Don whittled, and was a very accomplished carver. He made many cowboy themed carvings for others to enjoy. He enjoyed his family and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include four children and their spouses, Bill and Gladys Dixon of Urbana, Matthew and Carin Dixon of Cainsville, Jackie and Benny McPherson of Ozark, and David and Regina Dixon of Ozark; nine grandchildren, Tasha, Billie, Zack, Padriac, Cailin, Daniel, Troy, Abby, and David Andrew; several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
A graveside funeral and military honors will be 4:00 PM Saturday, November 21, in Weaver Cemetery, Highway NN just north of Ozark. Visitation will be from 2:00PM - 3:00PM Saturday in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
