Don Howard Davis, of Springfield, formerly of Ozark, passed away December 21, 2015 at the age of 94. He was born September 17, 1921 to Tressie and Clyde Davis of Republic, Missouri. He was married to Evelyn Mae Ledbetter on January 27, 1945 and the moved to Ozark, Missouri in 1947.
In his early years he farmed with his parents south of Republic. After moving to Ozark, he went into business with his father-in-law operating the Kroger Grocery Store located on the square in Ozark.
After leaving the grocery business he hauled milk for several years. Later he and his wife Evelyn purchased and operated the Ozark Locker Plant for many years. After selling the business he took a position as a rural postal mail carrier for 17 years before retiring in 1984.
He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Ozark where he served as a Deacon and Trustee for many years.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Marcella Bain and Mildred McCroskey, and his his wife of 66 years who passed away in 2011.
Survivors include his son: Kent Davis, of Ozark, and extended family members and many friends.
A visitation will be held at the First Baptist Church of Ozark, at 10:00 AM Thursday, December 24, 2015 with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11:00 AM officiated by Rev. Jim Jeffries. Interment will be in Weaver Cemetery in Ozark.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Ozark Building Fund.
