Dolores Anne Horton, 71, of Nixa, MO, passed away suddenly Saturday, October 13, 2018 enjoying a fun family outing in Kansas City, MO. Dolores was born on October 4, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York.
Dolores is preceded in death by her parents, Aiken (Ken) and Gertrude (Trudy) Caddell; a sister, Karen Gremillion; and son, Mike Horton of Springfield, MO. She is survived by her beloved husband of 25 years, Floyd L. Horton; a brother, Wayne Caddell; three daughters, Heather Metheny Standaert of Olathe, KS, Keri Metheny Myers and Mitch Gibson of Lee's Summit, MO, and Karen Horton of Springfield, MO; five cherished grandchildren, Maddy, Anna, Will, Jay, and Luke; plus three "bonus" grandchildren, Trent, Dewey, and Owen Gibson; sister-in-law Patti Floyd and husband Berl; many loving nieces and nephews; and two spoiled dogs, Daisy and Cooper.
Spending time with her grandchildren was the joy of her life. Most days in the summer you would find her spending time with friends and family at Table Rock Lake, relaxing and soaking up the sun. She enjoyed numerous travels to Russia, China, United Kingdom, Africa and throughout the United States. She was active in Brentwood Garden Club (she only went for the gossip and refreshments) and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Dolores loved life, and was such a joy to be around. She will be remembered for her ornery sense of humor. Those that knew her would think it was "real nice". She will be missed immeasurably and will be loved always.
A Memorial service will be held for Dolores at 11:00am on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Adams Funeral Home in Nixa. Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation with the family from 5:00-7:00pm the evening prior to the service, Thursday, October 18, 2018, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Big Brothers, Big Sisters or Rescue One.
