Dixie Lee Keltner, 83, of Ozark passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022.
Dixie was born on October 30, 1938 to Victorl and Mary (Steele) Keltner on her family's farm in Battlefield. Dixie graduated from Republic High School before going on to receive her degree in elementary education and art at Southwest Missouri State University, now known as Missouri State University.
Dixie taught in Marshfield for the rest of her career, retiring after 30 years in 1990. Dixie was beloved by the 1st and 6th graders she taught over the decades, and was rewarded with many hugs and greetings from her former students over the years.
Dixie was sharp and witty with personality traits that scooped you in and a very dry sense of humor that just kept people laughing continually. That same personality was powered by Dixie's big heart. She was always ready to help at a moment's notice. She would buy coats, boots, clothes - whatever she thought a child needed. She was also always ready to help an animal in need, ending up with numerous rescued dogs over the years.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a Graveside Memorial will be held for Dixie at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 23, 2022 in Manley Cemetery at Battlefield.
