Dixie Johnson Green, daughter of J.I. & Sylvia Johnson, was born on November 15, 1936, and departed this life after a lengthy illness on February 23, 2013.
She married Ival Green on April 10, 1955 and would have celebrated 58 years of wonderful marriage. From this union they were blessed with four children which in turn added to this great family, in-laws, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Dixie took great pleasure in designing and sewing her children"s clothes and costumes for school and holiday events. She loved to read and spend time camping at annual family get-togethers at the lake.
She was the best storyteller ever and created many on-the-spot tales that would mesmerize her grandchildren time and time again. But her greatest accomplishment was family; in which she was most proud.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, J.I. & Sylvia Johnson; sisters Evelyn, Ruth, Faith, Alpha, Mary, Joy & Jackie; and two granddaughters.
She is survived by her husband Ival, daughters Sandi Baker and husband David, of Springfield, Becky Yow and husband Steve, of Ozark, Kelly Taylor and husband Quintin, of Ozark, and son Terry Green and wife Carrie of Walnut Shade; granddaughters, Kristy and her husband John, Ashley, Karlei, Meagan, and Laken; grandsons, Park, Gavin, Quaid, and Ethan; great-grandchildren, Nolan and Sydney. She is also survived by her brother Jim Johnson and his wife Sharon of Kansas City; sisters Marion Abernathy of St. Joseph, Flo Etherton of Rogersville, and Hope Small of Kirksville.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude and appreciation for their kindness and care given to Dixie while she was at Select Specialty Hospital in Springfield. Especially Dr. Neely, Jenn, Malynda, Kim, Ann and Tasha. Services for Dixie are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home in Ozark.
