Dick Schubert

Walter Richard (Dick) Schubert (70) of Aldrich, MO passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 in Springfield, MO. Dick was born in Fort Scott, KS on September 3, 1946 to Ira Edward and Doris Elizabeth (Likely) Schubert. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Ruth (Schubert) Keith; and his brothers, Jim, John, and Gary. He grew up in Hiattville, KS and graduated in 1964 from Uniontown High School. As a teenager, he worked as a farm hand at O'Brian Ranch. Dick later served two years in the United States Army. After serving, he met and married Diane Towle and they had two children. Dick worked in the trucking industry for over 30 years. He started as a driver and then became a dispatcher. He worked for several companies out of Fort Scott, KS before starting at Prime Inc. and moving to Walnut Grove, MO. Dick took early retirement in 2008 to spend more time with his family. With them, he enjoyed gardening, camping, and any outdoor activity. The light of his life was his grandkids, and he could often be found in the bleachers cheering them on. He is survived by his son, Danny and wife Terri Schubert (Willard, MO); daughter, Christy and Dennis Jeffryes (Walnut Grove, MO); mother of his children, Diane (Towle) Stroud; his three grandchildren, Haleigh, Hayden, and Weston; his brothers, Charley and wife Lora Schubert, Donald and wife Janice Schubert, and Roger and wife Lorene Schubert, along with a host of nieces and nephews. Memorial services, conducted by the family, will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 10:30 am at the First Christian Church in Walnut Grove, MO. Services will be officiated by Pastor Jim Johnson of Brighton Assembly of God.
