Dick Lee Agee, 88, of Sparta, Missouri, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 10, 1936, to Shadrack and Katheryn Agee, Dick’s life was a testament to dedication, love, and a passion for helping others.
From a young age, Dick was immersed in the automobile industry, learning the ropes alongside his father at car auctions and mastering the intricacies of auto parts. After graduating from Central High School. Dick began a life long career in the automotive field. In the 1970s, he traveled the country selling auto parts for Bowman before opening his own service shop, Affordable Automotive, which he operated for many years. Dick later became a respected parts manager at several Springfield-area dealerships.
One of Dick’s greatest passions was drag racing, especially his beloved GTOs. He achieved national recognition as a champion in Chicago, a testament to his skill and dedication.
On August 5, 1993, Dick married the love of his life, Sue Agee, beginning a partnership filled with joy and unwavering support. He was a devoted family man who cherished every moment with his children and grandchildren. Dick never broke a promise, always putting his family first and earning a reputation as the best grandfather anyone could ask for. His kindness, humor, and welcoming spirit touched everyone he met, and his home was always open to friends and loved ones.
Dick enjoyed weekly card nights with his friends, creating countless cherished memories. His generosity extended beyond his immediate circle, as he served as a Shriner's Dad, driving families to the Shriner's Hospital in St. Louis for their children’s care. His compassion made a lasting difference in the lives of many families.
Dick is survived by: his wife Sue Agee; six daughters; Wendy (Coby) Agee, Terry Agee, Laura Agee, Julie Agee, Jamie Agee, and Sophia Peebles; one son, John (Emily) Peebles; two brothers, Raymond Agee (Helen), Ronnie Agee; four grandkids; Chris Gassel (Kristen), Dani Pace, Michael Knotts, Lucas Peebles; and six great-grandchildren.
Dick is preceded in death by: his parents; a daughter, Angela Peebles; and one brother, Jon Agee.
Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri and cremation rites will be accorded by Adams Crematory. A Celebration of Life Yard Party for friends and neighbors will be held May 10, 2025, at the Agee family home starting at 12:00 p.m.
