Debra "Ann" Annette Hickey

Debra Annette (Ann) Hickey, age 56, of Nixa, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2013, after a long fight with cancer. She was born to James and Frances "Yankee"� Cardwell, December 10, 1956, in San Diego, California. Ann earned a master"�s degree in computer engineering at San Diego State University. Ann was united in marriage to Joseph Hickey August 21, 1978, in Honolulu. Her family describes her as a loving person who was always there when she was needed. Ann was a fighter and always gave 100 percent of herself in anything she did. She was a strong Christian, was an example to others through her life. The joy of her life was her family and grandchildren. Ann loved photography, art, crafts, and Boxer dogs. She was an excellent cook and made special memories for her family with the different dishes she made. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She made Christmas the most special time at her home, with many decorations and Christmas foods. Ann fought hard with her illness, and is now home with her Lord. Ann is survived by her husband, Joseph; her son James, and wife Jennifer, of Nixa; her grandchildren, Gage, Scott, and Ashley; and a step mother Carol Cardwell, and family. Ann was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 20, 2013, at 11:00 A.M., at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, with Pastor Troy Rhoden officiating, under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
