David Nicholas "Dave"� Schroeder, age 64, of Nixa, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011, in the VA Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born December 30, 1946, in Dickinson, North Dakota, the son of Phillip W. and Anne Elizabeth (Bartell) Schroeder. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a proud Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Carolyne "Kay"� Meadows Barnes on January 10, 1982. Dave and Kay owned a Shoe Repair Business in California for seventeen years before moving to Missouri. He was a second generation master tradesman of the dying art, shoe repair. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, and traveling with his family. Above all, family and friends were most important to him. Survivors include: His wife, Carolyne "Kay"� Schroeder; his children, Richard Schroeder, JoAnna and Allen Schroeder, Curtis Barnes and wife Shirley; a daughter-in-law, Carla Barnes; his step-mother, Helen Schroeder; sisters, Kay Criswell, Sandy Tansley and husband Mike, Patricia McQueen and husband Mike, and Deborah Schroeder; brothers, James Schroeder and wife Patty, Tim Schroeder and wife Tammy, and Arthur Schroeder; grandchildren, Wyatt, Madelyn, Ehi, Niki, Samantha, Sinthiana, Antonio, Tracy, and Carla; and Great-grandchildren, Amanda, Emily, Maelyn, and Ethan. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Thomas Barnes, and two sisters, Judy and Joann. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, August 10, 2011 in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Burial will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, with full military honors.
