David Joseph Nichols, age 95, of Ozark passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016. He was born November 25, 1921 in Jonesboro, AR to Joseph and Lilian (Penick) Nichols. David was united in marriage to Dorothy Lee Graham in August 1948 celebrating 68 years of marriage.
David served in the Army during World War II as a medic in the European Theatre. He loved the Lord and served as a part time minister for 55 years and a deacon for many years. He and Dorothy attended Poplar Bluff Second Baptist Church. David enjoyed fishing, coin collecting and investing in real estate. David was a wonderful husband and father and loved taking care of his family. David served as Vice President of Operations for Commerce Bank. He was in banking for over 37 years.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy; a son Larry, his wife Vena of Nixa; 2 grandchildren Jennifer and Jeff Williams and Angela and Mike Wheeler; 4 great-grandchildren Lauren and Joshua Williams and Myrah and Gracie Wheeler.
He was preceded me in death by his parents; several brothers and sisters, and a daughter Carolyn Nichols-Crook.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 21, 2016 in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Burial will follow at 1:00 PM at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield following the funeral service with full military honors.
