David Lynn Meadows

May 11, 1946 — October 26, 2015

David Lynn Meadows, age 69, of Highlandville, passed away Monday, October 26, 2015, at home. He was born May 11, 1946 in Thayer, MO, the son of Samuel Ernest Meadows and Betty Lou (McGowan) Meadows. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. On September 10, 1966 he and Wanda Sue Craft were married. David was an over-the-road truck driver for 35 years. Spending time as a mechanic, he enjoyed hot rods, and welding. He spent time at car lots, and was know there as "Super Dave". He always had a good time at the casinos or just scratching a lottery ticket. Wanda "Susie" was the love of his life. His devotion to her was obvious to family and friends by the loving way he treated her. Survivors include: His wife, Wanda "Susie"; three children and their spouses, Ginger and Terry Hanson of Springfield; Debbie and Larry Gideon of Highlandville; and David Jr. and Dena Meadows of Highlandville; six grandchildren, David Hanson and wife Allison of Springfield, Derrick Hanson of Springfield, Megan Gideon, Larry Gideon, Kayla Meadows, and Taylor Meadows all of Highlandville; five great-grandchildren, Logan, Haylea, Gunner, Madalyn, and Divinity Hanson; his mother, Betty Lou Reed of Nixa; two sisters, Brenda Pugh, and Leann Williams, both of Akron, OH; other relatives and many friends; and his canine companions, Chester, Bonnie, and Clyde. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel; a brother, Paul Meadows; and step-fathers, Charles Daily and Bill Reed. A graveside funeral service with full military honors will be 1:00 PM Thursday, November 5, in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, November 4, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Memorial donations may be made in David's memory to the family.
