David Francis Kurek, 75, passed away from this life Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO.
Born on October 22, 1941 in Lackawanna, NY, the son of Anthony V. and Frances V. (Tocha) Kurek, he was raised in Takoma Park, MD. On January 23, 1959, he married his dear wife, Ruth, in Bethesda, MD.
He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Norma Ruth (Folsom) Kurek; his 4 daughters and 2 sons; Linda Climer (Doug Climer) of Rogersville, MO; Karen Baker of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA; Anthony (Tony) Kurek of Fordland, MO; Carole Jay of Springfield, MO; Christine Linker (Michael Linker) of Orange Beach, AL; and William (Bill) Kurek of Tipton, MO. He was the proud Grandfather of 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents; his brother, Anthony J. Kurek; and an infant daughter, JoAnn Kurek.
Before retirement, Dave worked as a security guard for Highland Springs Country Club. He cherished spending his free time at Pomme de Terre Lake; boating, fishing, and getting the occasional ice cream with his grandkids. He had an adventurous heart.
The family will greatly miss his witty banter and stubborn disposition. He always spoke frankly and had a wonderful sense of humor. His loss will be felt deeply by all those that knew and loved him.
He will be cremated, and there will be no formal services, as those were his last wishes. The family appreciates the kind words and thoughtfulness expressed during this time of grieving.
