Darrell Lee Osborn, Sr., a devoted father, committed patriot, and cherished friend to many, passed away on February 19, 2025, after 83 very full years of life. His unwavering devotion to faith and family, selfless service, and far-reaching kindness touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born on March 3, 1941, in Lebanon, Missouri, dedicated his life to his family, his country, and his community. A proud veteran of the Navy, he served with honor and distinction, embodying the values of duty, sacrifice, and courage. His years in uniform were some of his most memorable marked by a deep commitment to the country that he loved so much and his fellow servicemembers, forging bonds that lasted a lifetime.
Beyond his military service, Darrell was a pillar of strength and guidance to his loved ones. As a father and guardian, he led with boundless love, wisdom, always placing his family’s well-being above all else. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he lived each day with a heart full of gratitude, generosity, and devotion.
A friend to all, Darrell never met a stranger—only a friend he hadn’t yet made. His laughter was infectious, his stories legendary, and his kindness limitless. Whether offering words of encouragement, lending a helping hand, or simply sharing a meal and conversation, he had a way of making everyone feel valued and seen.
His legacy of love, integrity, and service will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind: his children Jennifer Slaughter (Dustin), Erica Crain (Eric), Darrell L. Osborn, Jr. (Marry), Richard Lawrence (Robin), and Rachelle Matuszak, his grandchildren Anna Crain, Addison Crain, Turner Hale, Sarah McMullan, Nick Lawrence, Chad Lawrence, Megan Patterson, Michael (Jay) Matuszak, and Matthiew (Spud) Matuszak, siblings (Dan and Glen), and a community of family and friends forever changed by his presence.
Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that Darrell has found eternal peace, reunited with his beloved wife, Sherryl, and all those loved ones who went before him, and watching over us with the same love and devotion he showed in life.
A service to honor and celebrate Darrell’s life will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Adam’s Funeral Home, 109 N. Truman Blvd., Nixa, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 10am-12pm CST with a celebration of life service to follow from 12pm-1pm CST.
Thank you, Dad. Your life was full and your love abundant, your legacy will live on forever.
