Darlyne (Fergerson) Chaffin, age 91 of Ozark, passed away November 15, 2024. She was born December 21, 1932 in Springfield, the daughter of Earl and Elsie (Alexander) Fergerson.
At the age of nine, Darlyne was saved at G.A. Camp at Fassnight Park in Springfield. She was baptised at East Avenue Baptist Church.
In high school Darlyne was a member of the Kiltie Drum & Bugle Corp. She also played viola in the high school orchestra and sang in high school choir. Later on Darlyne met Kenneth Chaffin at church and they were married on November 30, 1950.
Darlyne and Kenneth moved to Ozark soon after they were married and joined First Baptist Church of Ozark. She served in many capacities - superintendent of the youth department, teacher in the junior department, association GA leader, GA counselor, youth choir director, song leader for Sunday School, WMU church training teacher and Ladies Trio choir member.
Darlyne said her greatest joy here on earth was marrying Kenneth Chaffin and the three precious gifts God gave her – her three children, Cindy, Paula and Kirk.
Darlyne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Kenneth; two sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include: her children, Cindy Shaw of Kimberling City, Kirk Chaffin of Ozark, Paula McDowell and husband Darwin of Texas; 13 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a sister, Earlene Lofftus, Fenton, Missouri.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 22, 2024 at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Chris Thixton officiating. Burial will follow in Weaver Cemetery, Ozark.
Visitation will be from noon-1:00 p.m. immediately before the funeral at the funeral home.
