Danny Robert Porter, aged 70, of Sparta, peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024. He was born on September 6, 1953, to Herbert and Bernadine (Lister) Porter.
Danny was a dedicated individual who graduated from Ava High School in 1971. He furthered his education at the School of the Ozarks, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Agriculture in 1975. Serving the nation with honor, Danny was a veteran of the United States Army and later dedicated twenty-one years of his life as a prison guard at The Federal Medical Center, Springfield, Missouri.
Danny enjoyed creating with his hands. He was an avid woodworker, carver, and knitter. His creation extended to nurturing a lush and productive garden. The fruits of his labor were shared with his acquaintances and family. His grandsons proudly wear his knitted hats and his children's bellies were filled with healthy vegetables and deer meat. His vigor for life was channeled through his hands. Our lives were enriched when he shared his passion and we will miss him.
While known to be occasionally grumpy, Danny's love for his dog Kelly shone brightly. He is survived by his children: Pan Porter and her wife Amber McCroskey; Danyel Wiles and her husband David; Charles Porter and his wife Heather; a brother Jody Porter and his wife Peggy; two sisters, Sharon Skaggs and Candy Porter; five grandchildren: Abbagale Wiles, Clayton Wiles and his wife Emily, Matthew Wiles and his wife Carabelle, Ernest Porter, and Max Porter; along with two great-grandchildren: Phoenix Anderson and Theodore Wiles.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Bernadine (Lister) Porter, Danny's memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
The arrangements have been thoughtfully entrusted to Adams Funeral Home in Ozark, Missouri. Cremation rites were respectfully conducted by Adams Crematory in Ozark.
