Danny Louis Nelson, age 71, of Ozark, passed away in his home Thursday, December 27, 2018. He was born August 1, 1947 in San Diego, California, the son of Herbert and Allie (Gallaher) Nelson. He was a 1965 graduate of Caruthersville High School in Missouri, and had started his radio announcing career while in high school for KCRV. On June 25, 1966 he and Martha Jacqueline Stewart were married. Danny moved to St. Louis to work for McDonnell Douglas, returning to Caruthersville, and retiring after 40 years with KCRV. In 2003 he and Martha moved to Ozark to be near their daughter and family. He worked as a greeter at Mercy for five years before retirement.
Danny enjoyed being outdoors, walking with his dog, Paris. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals and attending local games with his family at Hammons Field. Danny enjoyed watching his grandson play baseball and his granddaughter play volleyball. He read the daily paper, and enjoyed music, particularly Elvis and attending movies.
Survivors include: His wife, Martha; a daughter, Anna Beth Nelson Fraser and husband Robert F., of Ozark; two grandchildren, Tedd Christian Fraser and Darby Ann Fraser; and two brothers, Rodney Nelson and Robert Nelson.
Visitation will be from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM Monday, December 31 in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. The funeral service will follow at 5:00 PM. Burial will be in Hopedale Cemetery, Ozark. Memorial donations may be made to Victory Mission.
Danny has gone home to be with the Lord. He loved attending James River Church and seeing his grandson playing guitar with the praise team.
